# FreeACS > FreeACS is a hosted TR-069 ACS. Point routers, ONTs and LTE units at it, and they register themselves; then change WiFi, reboot and manage them from one dashboard. Free for up to 100 devices. FreeACS is made by Centipid Technologies. Updated 2026-10-26. ## Connect a device - ACS URL: https://acs.freeacs.net/ (or http://acs.freeacs.net/ for firmware with an old TLS stack) - Username and password: one pair per organization, shown on the FreeACS dashboard after sign-up - Devices register themselves on their first Inform, keyed by serial number - Authentication: HTTP Digest over HTTP or HTTPS; Basic over HTTPS only - Protocol: TR-069 (CWMP 1.0 to 1.4), TR-098 and TR-181 data models ## Pricing (USD) - Free: $0/month, up to 100 devices - Starter: $5/month or $50/year, up to 500 devices - Pro: $19/month or $190/year, up to 3,000 devices - Unlimited: $49/month or $490/year, unlimited devices Every plan gets every feature. Details: https://freeacs.net/pricing ## Features available now - Devices register themselves: Set one ACS URL, username and password on every device, or push them from your OLT. Each device appears in your list on its first check-in, keyed by serial number. - Change WiFi names and passwords: Pick a radio, type a new name or password, save. FreeACS writes every passphrase path the data model uses, so firmware that honours only one still changes. - Reboot and factory reset: From the device page, with a confirm step before a factory reset. - Commands in seconds, not hours: FreeACS gives each device its own Connection Request login and knocks when you queue a command. Devices it cannot reach collect commands at their next check-in, every 15 minutes. - TR-098 and TR-181: The data model is read from the first Inform, so InternetGatewayDevice and Device trees both work. CWMP 1.0 to 1.4. - HTTPS and plain HTTP: HTTPS for current firmware, plain HTTP for devices whose TLS is too old for a modern certificate. Digest authentication on both, with signed nonces that cannot be replayed. - Readings without asking: Model, firmware, uptime, WAN address, PPPoE username, WiFi networks and connected clients, refreshed once a day and whenever you press Refresh. - Online and offline status: A device that misses three check-ins in a row shows as offline, and comes back online at its next Inform. ## Coming soon - Firmware upgrades: Upload firmware per model and push it to one device or a rollout, with retries and TransferComplete tracking. - Bulk actions and tags: Tag devices, filter by model, firmware and status, and reboot or refresh a whole selection. - Provisioning presets: Set WiFi, PPPoE and the check-in interval automatically when a new device first checks in. - Diagnostics: Ping, traceroute, download and upload tests, WiFi neighbour scans, and fibre signal with history. - Offline alerts: An email when a device goes offline, and another when it comes back. - Team members and API: Invite teammates with roles, and manage devices from your own systems with API tokens. ## Questions ### What is a TR-069 ACS? An auto-configuration server (ACS) is the server that TR-069 devices, such as fibre ONTs, home routers and LTE units, call home to. Through it an ISP reads a device’s status and changes its settings remotely, without visiting the customer. ### Is FreeACS really free? Yes, for up to 100 devices, with every feature and no time limit. Paid plans start at $5 a month for 500 devices. ### Which devices work with FreeACS? Any device with a TR-069 (CWMP) client. That includes most fibre ONTs (Huawei, ZTE, Nokia, FiberHome), many ISP routers (TP-Link, MikroTik with the tr069-client package) and LTE and 5G CPEs. FreeACS speaks both TR-098 and TR-181. ### Do my devices need a public IP address? No. Devices connect out to FreeACS. A command runs right away when FreeACS can reach the device for a Connection Request, and otherwise at its next check-in, which FreeACS sets to every 15 minutes. ### Should I use the HTTPS or the HTTP ACS URL? HTTPS whenever the device accepts it. Use the plain HTTP URL for firmware that cannot validate a modern certificate; Digest authentication still protects the password. ### How do I move my devices from another ACS? Change the ACS URL, username and password on your devices, or in your OLT or provisioning profile, to the ones on your FreeACS dashboard. Each device registers itself at its next check-in. ## Guides - [What is TR-069? CWMP and the ACS explained](https://freeacs.net/guides/what-is-tr069): How TR-069 (CWMP) works: the ACS, the Inform, sessions, Connection Requests and the TR-098 and TR-181 data models. - [Connect any TR-069 device to FreeACS](https://freeacs.net/guides/connect-any-device): The four settings every TR-069 device needs to register with FreeACS, and what to check when one does not appear. - [Connect a Huawei ONT (EchoLife HG8245H, HG8546M, EG8145V5) to FreeACS](https://freeacs.net/guides/huawei-ont): Set the TR-069 ACS on a Huawei EchoLife ONT so it registers with FreeACS, from the web interface or in bulk from the OLT. - [Connect a ZTE ONT (F660, F670L, F680) to FreeACS](https://freeacs.net/guides/zte-ont): Set the TR-069 ACS on a ZTE ZXHN ONT so it registers with FreeACS. - [Connect a TP-Link router to FreeACS (CWMP settings)](https://freeacs.net/guides/tp-link): Turn on CWMP (TR-069) on a TP-Link router and point it at FreeACS. - [Connect a MikroTik router to FreeACS (tr069-client)](https://freeacs.net/guides/mikrotik): Install the RouterOS tr069-client package and point it at FreeACS with three commands. ## Comparisons - [FreeACS vs tr069.net](https://freeacs.net/compare/tr069-net): Both are hosted TR-069 ACS services. tr069.net has one plan at $1 a month. FreeACS is free for up to 100 devices and charges by device count above that. - [FreeACS vs GenieACS](https://freeacs.net/compare/genieacs): GenieACS is open-source ACS software (AGPL-3.0) that you install and run yourself on Node.js and MongoDB. FreeACS is a hosted service: nothing to install, patch or keep online. - [FreeACS vs Splynx ACS](https://freeacs.net/compare/splynx-acs): Splynx ACS is a GenieACS-based module of the Splynx ISP billing system, licensed per 1,000 devices. FreeACS is a standalone hosted ACS that works with any billing system.
